Richard Brown makes banjos of native woods including mesquite and Texas ebony, Pithecellobrium flexicaule.

This model is a short scale (22-7/8 inches), and is ideal for a traveling instrument (hence the "Texas Traveler" moniker) and for playing all those A and D tunes without need for a capo!

The instrument currently in stock is a limited edition made with highly figured curly mesquite. This one-off piece, no. 33, has a hand-engraved, bone name tag on its dowel stick and has unique hand-cut bone, copper, and wood inlays with turquoise accents.

	The peghead has an elaborate inlay comprising wood, bone, copper, and turquoise.			The dowel stick in the 10-inch pot has a hand-engraved, bone, maker's name plate.
	The Texas ebony fingerboard wood, bone, copper, and turquoise inlays, Richard's Signature© scoop above the 17th fret and side marker dots.			The three-piece mesquite neck is spectacularly flamed, and has a hand-rubbed oil finish.
	The metal is non-plated brass. The 10-inch pot is made of mesquite blocks. Note that the flesh hoop has been painted a brass color to match the hardware!			All five tuners are Pegheds brand 4:1 planetaries. These anodized aluminum machines are cleverly disguised to look like wooden friction pegs.
	This 10-inch banjo has a Renaissance brand head, a RB Signature© crescent bridge, a Texas ebony tone ring, and a No-Knot tailpiece for a good old-time tone.			The 10-inch, block pot is made of mesquite, and has a Texas ebony tone ring.
