The North Star was a new model for Ome in 2010, aimed squarely at the Old Time market. It has a shorter scale (25.5 inches) and wider neck than other, "Traditional" Omes, has a simplicity of design, and even has a dowel stick. Well, OK, it's a faux stick, a la Jason Romero, but at least it's not coordinator rods. The metal bits have an aged look to them, and the instrument comes with a simple "Sweetone" tailpiece, reminiscent of a No-Knot.

The 11-inch pot on this banjo has a Silver Spun tone ring, and produces clean, loud tone. I liked the first, walnut, one I saw enough that I kept it for myself!

	The "S"-scooped, ebony fingerboard has a simple dot inlay with a handsOme Maple North Star in the scoop. The fingerboard is a bit wider than that of the older Ome lines: 1.34 inches versus 1.28. Likewise, the scale is a bit shorter: 25.5 inches as opposed to 26.25.			The brass metal bits are not plated, and have been aged to have a gorgeous patina.
	Ome's Victorian headstock has beautiful, MOP inlay with another star.			The super-smooth planetary tuners are H&K brand, and their finish as been hand "aged" by Ome founder, Chuck Ogsbury.
	It is set up with a Renaissance head, an Ome brand bridge, and Ome's new "Sweetone" tailpiece.			The neck is one-piece flamed maple.
	Both pot and neck are made of maple.			The Silverspun tone ring also has an aged finish.
	Ome is using a faux dowel stick in this series.			For those who prefer coordinator rods, this one is pre-drilled for a simple conversion.
