Recording King banjos were designed by Greg Rich (formerly of Gibson and later of Rich and Taylor) to be a high quality instrument made in China. The historic name "Recording King was chosen for these banjos.

The RK-R85 Soloist features the traditional Recording King floral peghead and inlay and an authentic Mastertone-style flange. These are not only well made, but they play well and have a very "professional" quality tone.

	The RK-R85 is a maple banjo, featuring a sunburst finish.			The maple neck has a gloss finish, and a perfect shape!
	The peghead is bound and has a striking inlay.			Unlike those found on many imports, the RK-R85 tuners are the very high quality Gotoh brand planetaries.
	The bound, ebony fingerboard has a "hearts and flowers" inlay pattern.			The banjo comes set up with a Presto style tailpiece and a Remo head. We have in stock the R85A archtop model. This has the bright clear tone associated with this tone ring (think Ralph Stanley or Doug Dillard!).
	The flamed maple resonator has a beautiful sunburst finish.
