The peghead is Mike's usual shape, but the beautifully engraved dragon is an inlay I've not seen from his shop before..

The tuners are 5-Star brand planetaries.

The head is a Renaissance, and it has a No-Knot tailpiece.

The neck and 12-inch pot have a reddish stain.

The scooped, ebony fingerboard has a handsomely engraved star pattern above the 5th fret, while the area of frets 1-5 has been overlain with Sterling silver.

The three-piece neck is predominantly highly flamed maple. |
 |
The 12-inch Tony Pass, Lost TimbreTM sunken birch block pot is made from old wood recovered from the bottom of Lake Superior.

All the hardware is nickel-plated. Note the side marker dots--not usually found on Ramsey banjos.

Mike tells me that when he received the pot from Tony, it was already drilled for coordinator rods. As Mike uses dowel sticks, he plugged the holes (one is visible in this photo just above the "O" in "com"). At least, that's what Mike says: My theory is that these are special "Tone Plugs" where just enough maple dowel is inserted into the birch to balance the overtones to Old Time perfection.
