In his research, Bill found that the term "spunover" was a misnomer, as the metal rims' metal cladding had historically not been spun into place but hammered and otherwise bent into shape. Through design of new equipment, Bill has made a true spunover pot, and has developed a proprietary manner in which to ensure a good fit between wood and metal.
To these innovative steps, he has now added his Dobson-style tone ring to a spunover pot, and has achieved a really great sound. (I'm a guy who never liked spunovers with steel strings: but I have to say, these sound great!)
To add to the mystique, Bill has specially "aged" the metal parts, including the spunover cladding for a dynamite look.

Bill Rickard is well known for his top-quality metal parts that are currently in use by many banjo builders. He has also established a great reputation for making complete banjos, too! It has been primarily Bill's innovation and efforts that have put Dobson-style tone rings back on the map, and now he has tackled making spunover rims. We are delighted that he is now providing us with a new line of spunover banjos.$2895, but was available for only $2595. Sold A case or bag, is, of course, available.
