Used 2008 Stelling Red Fox

2007 Ome Juniper MegatoneGeoff Stelling's banjos have long been highly regarded by many as the crème de la crème of banjos. The Red Fox has certainly been his most popular model through this shop. This banjo has the fabled Tony Pass Lost TimbreTM block pot that is now standard on Stelling banjos.

We sold this banjo new, and it has been traded back on an open back model, suffering absolutely no indication of its having been "used." "Pre-owned" would be the apt term--this is dead mint. The buyer did register it with Stelling, so the factory warranty is no longer valid. Otherwise, this is a brand new Stelling at a used banjo price!

With its Stelling-branded AVS hardshell case, this one is a bargain: $2599. Sold

Used 2008 Stelling Red Fox neck The Red Fox's neck is made of highly figured maple with a (what else?) reddish stain.           Used 2008 Stelling Red Fox fingerboard The ebony fingerboard has a a distinctive abalone maple leaf inlay.
Used 2008 Stelling Red Fox peghead The peghead is distinctively Stelling, with its characteristic shape and Red Fox inlay and its ivoroid binding. Note Geoff's compensated nut, which makes the 2nd string sound in tune in open G tuning!           Used 2008 Stelling Red Fox tuners The tuners are the new planetary style, also introduced in 2003.
Used 2008 Stelling Red Fox binding The metal bits are all nickel-plated, and the binding is ivoroid.           2007 Ome Juniper Megatonehead It is set up with a Ludwig brand head (standard), a Stelling brand bridge, and Stelling's proprietary tailpiece.
Used 2008 Stelling Red Fox back Both the neck and resonator are this gorgeous, red-stained maple.           Used 2008 Stelling Red Fox resonator The resonator is highly figured maple--we've washed out the contrast so you can see the figure (and the reflection of Marc Miller taking the photo, of course...)
