2006 The Hopkins "Woodie"

Hopkins Hopkins WoodieD P Hopkins, Inc. make several banjo lines, including "The Hopkins." This particular model is all walnut, with a nicely figured walnut neck and a gorgeous, burled walnut veneer on the resonator. Its ebony fingerboard has a "Hearts and Flowers" style inlay. Aside from its great looks, though, this banjo has a astounding sound, as it has no metal tone ring, instead benefitting from a Tony Pass "Lost Timbre" brand submerged birch block pot with an integral, wooden tone rim (hence the "Woodie" moniker). Not only does this give an amazing sound to the instrument, but it reduces its weight to under 8 pounds--great news for those with tired backs!

Killer banjo with a surprisingly good sound--light weight and gorgeous! It's consigned here with OSHC for $2850.
