2007 Rickard Tu-Ba-Phone
Bill Rickard is well known for his innovative metal working; he provides many parts for the banjo industry, and makes many tone rings that are found in open back banjos. What some don't realize is that he also makes banjos!
This particular one was made in 2007 (I originally got it new from Bill at Clifftop), and features one of his Tu-Ba-Phone tone rings with an unusual--and spectacular--birdseye maple neck.
"Used," but hardly played--literally like new--it has a "Bump" case, and is only $1995

Bill's distinctive peghead is clean and simple.

The tuners are Gotoh brand planetary tuners.

The 3-piece, predominantly maple neck is of birdseye maple--quite unusual. The center stripe is walnut. Note the flamed maple fingerboard binding.

The fully fretted, ebony fingerboard has abalone dot inlays.

The nicely finished maple pot has a Bill Rickard Tu-Ba-Phone tone ring. It's currently set up with a Renaissance head and a No-Knot tailpiece.

Bill has paid a lot of attention to detail on this banjo. Note the marquetry inlay on the pot and multiple underlayment on the heel.

This is a beautiful, one-off banjo made by a true master builder. And, it's a highly affordable Tu-Ba-Phone!
