  • Kentucky KM-350S
This is the penultimate top-o'-the-line Kentucky "A" style mandolin--only the 380S is above it in their line-up, and that only because they used more figured maple for the 380S. The 350S has all solid woods, of course--solid spruce top and solid maple neck, back and sides (nicely sunburst, BTW). There is a nice mother of pearl fleur-de-lys inlaid in the snake head peghead. This model also has a dovetail neck joint, and extended fingerboard, as did the original, vintage mandolins, setting it apart from the lessor models.

    With a hardshell case, this lists for $504.95 ($395 + $109.95). Our price: $399 .
