Mike Paramore
A player for over thirty years, Mike specializes in fingerstyle guitar. His primary influence in this approach to the guitar was his father--a professional mandolin player who became a businessman and later an ordained minister. Over the past fifteen years Mike has regularly performed guitar solos as special music for church services and has played for numerous weddings, receptions, and banquets.
Mike arranges all of the solos he performs and has a CD of sacred tunes available for sale.

Although Mike enjoys performing, he is more comfortable teaching. He has a “teacher’s credentials” (holds a graduate degree in education), but equally important, he has a “teacher’s heart.” Mike comments: “Although I have talked with other guitar teachers who avoid them, I really prefer and enjoy the challenge of teaching beginning guitar students. I really want them to experience the same joy that playing the guitar has brought into my life. Nonetheless, my teaching experience tells me that new students bring a sense of “fragile enthusiasm” to their very first lessons. Some have convinced themselves that it’s going to be impossible to learn; others, however, have the notion that three weeks of guitar lessons should be adequate to enable them immediately to begin earning money as a studio musician.
The obvious keys to becoming proficient in guitar are persistence and patience, but I have found it to be equally important for students to learn how to be “happy where they are” while they are seeking to improve their skills. I want them to look forward to every lesson; I want them to enjoy every practice session.
