ZEPP Country Music is proud to offer open back banjos built by Marty Spencer's Florida Banjo Company. Marty is making some very interesting instruments, with a unique twist!

  • Teak Workingman's Open Back (photo)
    This beautiful instrument is the first one of Marty's we've had in stock. The 3-piece neck is predominantly curly Burmese teak, with a blond maple center section. It has an maple and ebony underlain ebony fingerboard with a traditional MOP star at the 5th fret. The fingerboard is scooped above the 17th fret for old-time play.

    The peghead has a spectacular cocobola overlay over its maple and ebony underlayment, and has planetary tuners, of course. Another Cocobola overlay is found on the heelcap.

    Marty makes his own block pots; this one has an 11-inch teak pot fitted with an "Electric" style tone ring (aka: "Whyte Laydie").

    The instrument is set up with a Renaissance head and No-Knot tailpiece, and it has a great sound.
