Deering Maple Sierra Archtop

Deering Maple Sierra Archtop Deering's Sierra has long been about the best buy in a professional grade, American-made banjo.

Until recently, it was only available in mahogany, but can now be had in either maple (shown here) or mahogany.

With its hardshell case, it lists at $2699, plus $550 for the archtop option but please call us for selling price. Now in Stock.

Our Pick This is a ZEPP Country Music Pick: I feel that among American-made banjos, the Sierra offers the best professional-grade sound and playability for the buck; the savings comes from the absence of mud flaps and racoon tails. There's nothing fancy about this instrument--it just gets the job done, and done right! And that archtop ring is so bright and clear--just the way I like it!

Deering Maple Sierra Archtop peghead The peghead is Deering's distinctive shape, and now features a handsome inlay in its ebony overlay.          Deering Maple Sierra Archtop tuners The tuners are Deering-branded, Gotoh-made planetaries.
Deering Maple Sierra Archtop head The banjo has a frosted head and Deering's proprietary tailpiece and bridge. The optional arch top tone ring can be seen through the head, and provides a wonderfully crisp, clear tone! The 3-ply maple rim is also used throughout Deering's tone ring banjos.

Deering Maple Sierra Archtop back This maple banjo has a rich stain--the Sierra is also available in mahogany.
Deering Maple Sierra Archtop fingerboard The ebony fingerboard has a new-to-Deering inlay pattern, as well as side position markers.
Deering Maple Sierra Archtop neck The one-piece neck is richly stained maple, though mahogany is available.
Deering Maple Sierra Archtopreso The maple resonator is handsome, and has a flat finish and white binding.
Deering Maple Sierra Archtop heel The metal bits are all nickel-plated. The optional archtop (aka "raised head") tone ring really shows here.
