The late Bruce Phillips (1935-2008) was a hero of mine. Not only was he a hardworking man-of-the-people, he had a great sense of humor, and he wrote a lot of wonderful songs...not to mention he was a right fine guitar player!
Now, please understand that as one who always considered himself an "instrumentalist" and not a singer, I don't know the words to many songs: Nonetheless, there sure are a slew of his lyrics I do know, because he was such a gifted songwriter. I shan't go into his life's history, for you can find it on Wikipedia.
